Passport Application
Things to Note:
Please ensure you have read and understood the guidelines and requirements both on www.ecitizen.go.ke and those listed below before submitting your application.
Applications for passports are accepted between 9.30hrs-13.00 hrs. (Monday – Friday) by Appointment only.
New passports or replacement of passports are applied through e-citizen portal (www.ecitizen.go.ke) You will require to download and print out the form at the end, sign, date the form and attach the required documents. Thereafter make an appointment through Kenya High Commission website (www.kenyahighcom.org.uk) and submit your documents in person at the High Commission for biometric capture.
Passport fees
32 pages Ordinary “A” series – Ksh. 4,550
48 pages Ordinary “B” series – Ksh. 6,050
64 pages Ordinary “C” series – Ksh. 7,550
48 pages Diplomatic Passport – Ksh. 7,550
Mutilated passport – Ksh.10,050
Lost Passport – Ksh12,050

Persons born before 27th August 1987 and have acquired citizenship of other countries before promulgation of Kenya Constitution on 27th August 2010 will be required to provide proof of having regained and declared Kenya Citizenship.
Dual Citizens are required to declare their other nationality prior to renewing Kenya passports.
Those required to apply to regain Kenya citizenship are expected to await completion of the regaining process.
Note that Birth Certificate Entry. No. is the number that appears on the left-hand side of the birth certificate above the date of birth.
Persons born abroad must apply and obtain a Kenya born abroad birth certificate first. A copy of the Foreign Birth certificate is to be submitted as well.

Passport applications without complete requirements will not be processed. Please ensure all the requirements are met.
All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Collection of passports is strictly only via postal services.
As a measure in support of the containment of the spread of Covid-19, applicants are advised to provide at the time of application, a secure, registered and trackable self-addressed envelope with pre-paid postage stamps for the dispatch of their critical documents. The envelope should have sufficient return postage (not less than 500g) and clearly indicates full names and postcode of the applicant.
All foreign documents to be certified and stamped by a Notary, Solicitor, Commissioner for oaths
Passport Requirements for a minor (Below 18 years)
- One printout of dully completed application and two corresponding receipts form E Citizen.
- Original and one copy of Kenyan Birth Certificate
(Children born abroad require Kenyan birth certificates for births occurring abroadbefore applying for the passport. click here for more information ) - Original and a copy of Identity Card (applicants over 18 Years Old) accompanied with Copies of parents’ Kenyan IDs
- A copy of Parent/Parents passports
- A copy of United Kingdom’s Residence Permit/Visa of child and parents’
- A copy of completed parents consent form for applicants under 18 years completed by father or mother.
- A copy of the Father’s / Mother’s Kenyan Birth certificate (both sides) where applicable
- Applications must be recommended by a Kenyan citizen, who should provide a copy of his/her passport or ID card.
- Additional documentary proof of Kenya citizenship may be required if necessary. Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by registration.
- Copy of residence permit/certificate of Naturalisation/proof of either having regained Kenya citizenship and or Declared Kenya citizenship for Dual Citizens.
- A secure, registered and trackable self-addressed envelope with pre-paid postage stamps for the dispatch of their critical documents. The envelope should have sufficient return postage (not less than 500g) and clearly indicates full names and postcode of the applicant.

- Copies of Parents’ Documents (IDs/Passports) (Optional for Replacements)
- Copy of Applicant’s ID (For person’s aged 18 years and above)
- Copy of Marriage Certificate (where applicable)
- Letters for those requesting change of name.
- Copy of residence card/visa or Certificate of Naturalization for Dual Citizens
- For Dual Citizens- Proof of having either regained Kenya Citizenship and or Declared Dual Citizenship
- Copy of Certificate of Registration (For citizens by registration)
Requirements for New Passport Applications
- A duly filled application form
- Original Kenyan birth certificate and a copy (persons born abroad must apply and obtain a Kenya born abroad birth certificate first) – A copy of the Foreign Birth certificate is to be submitted as well.
- Original and a copy of Identity Card (applicants over 18 Years Old)
- Certificate of Registration if Kenyan by registration.

- Two (2) payment invoices
- Copy of residence permit/ certificate of Naturalisation/proof of either having regained Kenya citizenship and or Declared Kenya citizenship for Dual Citizens.

Requirements for Replacement of Passport
- A duly filled application form
- Old Passport and a copy
- Original ID and copy (over 18 years old applicants)
- Copy of birth certificate (both sides)
- Copy of certificate of Registration if Kenyan by registration.

- Copy of residence permit/ certificate of Naturalisation/proof of either having regained Kenya citizenship and or Declared Kenya citizenship for Dual Citizens.

Requirements for Mutilated/Damaged Passport

- Copy of birth Certificate
- Copy of Registration certificate if Kenyan by registration

- A letter explaining circumstances for the damage
- Two (2) payment invoices

- Copy of residence permit/ certificate of Naturalisation/proof of either having regained Kenya citizenship and or Declared Kenya citizenship for Dual Citizens.

Requirements for a Lost Passport
- A duly filled application form
- Copy of lost passport or a previously issued passport
- Copy of birth certificate (both sides)
- Original and copy of ID (over 18 years old applicants)
- Copy of registration certificate if Kenyan by registration

- Police report on the loss of passport
- Sworn Affidavit explaining circumstances for loss

- A secure, registered and trackable self-addressed envelope with prepaid postage for dispatch of your documents. The envelope should have sufficient postage (not less than 500g) clearly indicating full names and post code for the applicant.
- Copy of residence permit/ certificate of Naturalisation/proof of either having regained Kenya citizenship and or Declared Kenya citizenship for Dual Citizens.

Change of Name in Passport
Kenyans who require to change name in the passport as a result of marriage, divorce or deed poll should apply for a new passport.
- Name change as a result of marriage should provide a copy of marriage certificate. (if foreign issued, to be duly certified by a Notary, Solicitor or Commissioner for Oaths).
- If any partner had a previous marriage, proof of divorce.
- Other name change, provide a Deed Poll (document prepared and registered at the Registrar of documents in the Ministry of Lands, Nairobi) and a copy of Kenya Gazette Notice effecting name change.
- Other amendments: correction of date of birth, place of birth etc., forward a copy of birth certificate (both sides) that was used to acquire the passport) and the original expired passport if any.
- Letter to the High Commissioner requesting the name change.

A copy of the Foreign Birth certificate is to be submitted as well.
Order of documents when submitting at the High Commission

- Invoice 1 (Government copy)
- Invoice 2 (Customer copy)
- Original and copy of passport (bio data page) for replacements.
- Copy of Kenya birth certificate
- Original and copy of 2nd Generation Identity card (over 18 years old applicants)
- Copies of parents’ documents (ID and passport (optional for replacements)
- Letter addressed to the High Commission for Name change.
- Copy of Marriage certificate (where applicable)
- Copy of Deep Poll and Kenya Gazette Notice (where applicable)
- Copy of Resident card/ certificate of Naturalisation
- Copy of Registrations for Kenyans by Registration
- For Dual citizens- proof of having either regained Kenya citizenship and or declared Kenya citizenship.
